Laptop electronics fault – possibly?
I’ve had my Acer Aspire 7720G about a year… just under. I recently took it to have new RAM and a replacement optical drive and has worked fien for a week or two./ i took it to lancaster with me, thoguh didn’t use it, and when i got home, it’s completely dead.
There is a light on the box in the charger line, which suggests the charger is ok, but no ‘battery charging’ light on the laptop is coming on, i press the power button nothing happens. I even elft it charging overnight to no avail. There’s no external damage to it, and the inside of the bag it was kept in was not wet or anything. Maybe it got knocked around a bit whilst i was out? is what im thinking but it only got everyday use, no earthquakes, just me carrying it in a backpack and a holdall to lancaster, both well padded.
Intrestingly enough though, the CD tray won’t open, i am not sure if the computer needs power to open a CD tray or not cos i’ve never tried previously, but i don’t think it does, it’s just a mechanical catch… anyway, the CD tray won’t open at all. I guess this may add weight to my theory of it got knocked around a bit and maybe the CD tray impacted?
There;s no lights or fans whirring, no light on the screen, no sound of processors starting, no air flow… It may aswell be a potato with a big LCD screen at the moment.
battery was working fine when i last used it, and i’ve no reason to think it would suddenly expire now
Anyone have any thoguhts/theories/ideas? Or had something similiar? I appreciate any help or advice that anyone could suggest. I was also thinking maybe it’s the electronics and the power supply wire has disconnected inside it?
Yeah, just tried removing/reinserting battery. No luck. It’s definately in right. nd thanks for the suggestion
